What should I do if my condensate pipe is frozen?

If your boiler has stopped working in freezing weather, the condensate pipe may be frozen. You can try pouring warm (not boiling) water over the external pipe to thaw it. Why has my boiler lost pressure and how do I fix it?

Boiler pressure should be between 1-2 bars (usually shown in green on the gauge). If it's dropped below 1 bar, you can repressurise using the filling loop - usually a flexible hose with valves underneath your boiler. Turn the valves slowly until pressure reaches 1.5 bars, then close them. If pressure keeps dropping or you're not confident doing this yourself, contact us for a repair.

My radiators are cold at the top - what's wrong?

This usually means your radiators need bleeding to remove trapped air. Using a radiator key, slowly open the bleed valve at the top of the radiator until you hear air hissing out. Once water starts to flow, close the valve. Check your boiler pressure afterwards as bleeding can reduce it. If you smell gas, act immediately: turn off the gas supply at the meter, don't use electrical switches or naked flames, open doors and windows for ventilation, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
